Frenchies Bar a Vin
5-6 rue du Nil, 2nd Arrondissement. http://www.frenchie-restaurant.com
More casual than the restaurant, but with the same great food in smaller plates. They don’t take reservations, so get there early and wait in line. The communal tables are fun and the wine selection is excellent. A fun atmosphere, too.
Les Délices d’Aphrodite
4, rue de Chandelle, 5th Arrondissement, Metro Monge
If you’re in the mood for different cuisine, this small Greek restaurant is worth a stop. The Greek plates are well done and the restaurant has a fun ambiance. It feels more like a neighborhood restaurant and seems like a locals’ favorite. Mid-range prices. Indoor & outdoor seating.
Le Sampson
9 rue Jean-Marie Jego, 13th Arrondissement
French & Greek fusion restaurant, nice neighborhood spot.
L’enclos de Ninon
68 rue du Cardinal-Lemoine, 5th Arrondissement
This small coffee & pastry shop has excellent coffee & desserts, but the restaurant also offers amazing small plates for lunches, too. It’s a small spot (inside seating & outdoors) near the more touristy Place de la Contrascarpe and rue Mouffetard, a fun foodie street in the 5th Arrondissement. Don’t forget to look for Ernest Hemingway’s apartment at 74, rue du Cardinal-Lemoine, a few doors away.
L’As du Fallafel
34 rue de Rosier, 4th Arrondissement
Popular Fallafel restaurant in the Marais. We think it’s the best one in the Marais. There’s take out, too.
Café Breizh
109 rue Vieille du Temple
A great spot for crepes in the Marais district. It’s a cosy spot and the food is excellent. Reservations are a good idea: 01 42 72 13 77 Metro St. Paul
Bakeries
Du Pain et des Idées
34, rue Yves Toudic, 10th Arrondissement
A food lover’s bakery with a nice assortment of wonderful bread. The building is an authentic bakery that’s fun to see. They also serve stuffed bread items that make a nice snack or breakfast.
Poilane
8 rue du Cherche-Midi, 6th Arrondissement
A small bakery and cafe for lunch. Excellent food and the tarte au citron is amazing!
Gelato
- Berthillon, 31 rue Saint Louis l’Ie
Considered the best ice cream in Paris, but the next two are excellent choices. Expect a line. - Amorino, 31 rue Vielle du Temple, Marais District
Really fun fresh fruit choices. - Pozzetto, 39 rue de Roi de Sicile, Marais District
Less choices than above, but great gelato.
